Up until not to long ago I had a child who didn’t care what he wore…. As long as we picked it out for him, and helped him get dressed…. We were all good. Now times have changed. He became 4. Now that he is 4 years old, he has become an independent child. Only wanting to wear what his little hands pick out!
Every morning is an adventure trying to get him dressed. He still acts like we have to help him, but that is because he is trying to see what he can get away with. But if he is motivated… He will get dressed in a heart beat… and For the most part… He is very coordinated…. Until it comes time to wear or not wear socks. This little boy will choose to wear socks with sandals. I even try telling him that he doesn’t need to … and yet he puts them on. And do the socks match his outfit? No…. He doesn’t like to wear plain white socks. He likes to wear Colorful Character Socks (like batman, superman, Scooby, etc….) Prime Example of his choice in socks. The other day – since it was warm out, he chose to wear a blue & orange matching outfit….His Sandals…and Red SANTA Socks. He knows that they are Chrismtas socks, but he didnt care. All he told me was “shhhh…. don’t tell anyone they are for Christmas”. I so got a laugh out of that!
Speaking of socks… Have you noticed the trend that is going around? I work in a Sporting good store – in the shoe department. And I spend many times fitting Young kids to teenagers….to get good school shoes. I have realized that there is a new trend…. 2 Different socks. It seemed like almost EVERY elementary/middle school child that I helped had 2 different styles of socks… Boys and Girls Alike! I actually took time to ask one of the kids about it. They told me that it was the IN thing…and that you can even buy mix matched socks!
This year Lil C is going to be starting Kindergarten. I am looking forward to this big change.. but at the same time, I am nervous. We haven’t started school shopping…. This is something that I want to do together with Lil C. I want to give him the independence to pick out his own outfits for school – as long as they are in the allotted Price! I can not wait to see what he picks!
