One thing that was on the top of my son’s list for his Birthday and Christmas was the SKYLANDERS game and characters.  At his daddy’s house he has all of the one Skylanders from the original series….and Since the new Skylanders Giants Came out, he want all those as well!

A little about Skylanders:  Skylanders Giants is the sequel to Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure—the critically acclaimed game, where toys come to life! In Skylanders Giants, the rich mythology of the Skylands continues, engaging audiences with new, super-sized Giants with super-sized powers, an all-new story, new puzzles to solve, and new discoveries that will fire the imagination.

The MI Savings Mama family was extremely lucky to get to review the Skylanders Giants Portal Owner Pack. This came in JUST in time for Lil C’s bday.  He was the most excited little boy on earth – because he now had the game at his daddy’s house, but he also had a game at our house as well. Even though they say that this game is rated Everyone 10+, lil C has become a pro at this!  He was so excited to ATTEMPT to show me how to play this game.  It’s not as easy as it looks.  You need to use both the wii Remote plus the nunchuck… and when your character is about to die, you quickly need to change characters on the portal pad or… Wah wah wah…   Needless to say, I didn’t make it very long in the game.  I will leave the playing to the kids.  Lil C even taught Lil Miss how to play.  Now, I just need to get a new Nunchuck so they both can play.  This is a treat in my house – being able to play video games… But after watching Lil C play, I realize that it is more than just a Video Game where you beat the enemy.  There are mini games inside that also make your children think and use skills they didn’t think they had!  I love when Lil C Comes up to me and is like “Mommy, Do this for me, I cant!”  So we go back together and look at the  puzzle and he ends up realizing he can do it on his own!

That looks like a REALLY cool game for boys! I wonder if my son knows about this.

I’ve been seeing these a lot lately on the web and my two boys recently told me about them. It’s interesting how the game changes characters based upon the one you add to the holder. I grew up on the Atari and original Nintendo so this is far beyond my abilities!
