With the wedding only 8 months away, I am starting to realize I will have to pack up my house and get ready combine houses with my future husband.  Yea!  Moving …. AGAIN!  At time of the wedding ‘Lil C and I will only have lived in our house for 2 years. And I hate to say it but I still have yet to fully UNPACK

Where are we moving?

This time we are going to be moving IN with someone, who already has a furnished house.  This time I  actually have to go through ALL my stuff and decide what is worth keeping.  Or what I can just get rid of.  I have TONS of stuff to go through,  and I am pretty sure that I wont be keeping a lot of it… So I will be on the search for a company to help me get rid of the stuff I don’t need.  Hopefully there wont be TOO much for them to have to take…. But with having a 3 bedroom condo, you never know!

Lil C cracks me up.  He is sitting there and worrying about moving.  He’s worried that we wont take his things – poor lil guy.  That’s the only thing that he is worried about when it comes to mommy getting remarried.  He’s worried that his clothes wont go to the new house… or his dresser.. I keep trying to reassure him that nothing of his will be left behind (Not saying that I may not weed out some of his old toys/clothes and give them to someone in need)

This move is going to be nerve wrecking.

Like Lil C,  I am looking forward to it, but at the same time I’m not.  Hopefully this will be the last move for quite a while.  I really don’t want to get all comfortable and finally unpacked, just to have to pack it all back up again.

What are your tips for when you have to combine houses?

I HATE moving! My husband and I have moved 5 times in the last 8 years for school then work. Everytime we moved I got rid of lots of stuff I had been hanging on to for years. I say if you dont see yourself using it often, pitch it. Give yourself a set amount of space/totes for keepsakes and get rid of the rest. Another thing we do is go through our sons toys/clothes every couple months and donate things they dont use. We have our oldest pick out a couple toys and make it a learning experience about how others dont have as much. You should discuss what your husband 🙂 is going to get rid of as well, he will need to make room for the stuff you are bringing in. Good luck! Congrats!

I moved a whole lot when I was a kid. Now I am staying put! The best advice I can give is to give away your stuff to a local organization that resells to a help a non-profit, such as Goodwill,( although I wouldn’t give to them) That wuold save on costs and help the less fortunate.

You can perhaps sell most of the “extra” stuff you have and then put the money earned into an “emergency” savings account. Good luck on your move!
