This past week has been very hard…. We lost a loved one… But with Death there is always Life, and in the next few months I will have a new niece in our family.  My sister-in-law and I were comparing our previous babies… How different baby girls are vs. baby boys.  It helped take our minds off of the situation at hand.  There are 7 years between lil C and Peanut, and there will be about 10 years between my nephew and his baby sister.   We discussed what my formula for happiness was for the first few months of Peanuts Life.

1.  Make sure to Surround yourself with Family, especially the Grandparents of the little baby!  You get to see them ogle over their previous grandchild… And then you know they’ll be wraped around baby’s finger. This will make it so much easier when you go “Grandma/Grandpa, would you like to watch your Grandchild for a little bit today”

2.  Another formula for happiness is if possible have a Pack-n-Play.    This was my Savior!    Peanut slept in our room for the first 5 or 6 months.  My favorite thing about the Pack-n-play, not only can you use it as a play-yard, but you can also use it as a bassinet.   I loved the convenience of having her so close – whether I was home or at work.  (We used the Baby Box Co while I was work)

3.  Give your little one for some Daddy Bonding time.  Being a new mom, there is nothing sweeter than seeing your baby curled up on his/her daddy’s chest – giving you the freedom to do something for yourself – hands free!

4.  My last Formula For Happiness is “Take advantage of Baby Wearing”.  I didn’t do it with lil C.  But that was because I worked a job outside the house so much, but with Peanut, She was able to come with me daily.   Being able to baby wear has given me the ability to actually do my job, without having to hold a little wiggle worm.
Gerber® Good Start® Gentle believes that the Formula for Happiness™ can be a lot of things, and moms have different ways of enjoying the journey through motherhood.  Good sleep–for your baby and your family—is an essential component of that journey. That journey isn’t always perfect, but getting support every step of the way helps.
