Before many engaged couples say, “I do,” months of planning and preparations take place to get them to the moment when they are walking down the isle in front of friends and family. All over Michigan brides and grooms are throwing out their wedding binders full of check lists, inspiration photos and seating arrangements and turning to their favorite accessory to make their wedding day dreams come true – their smartphones and wedding apps.

According to the Real Wedding Survey conducted by TheKnot.com and WeddingChannel.com, three out of five brides will use their smartphones while planning their weddings. From dresses to venues, playlists to photos, smartphone applications are putting ease in wedding planning and letting engaged couples take all the details on the go. Here are eight of the top apps Verizon recommends for planning every detail:

The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner: Brides today are busier than ever and don’t want to miss a single detail. With this all-in-one free wedding planning app by theknot.com for iPhone, now they can. This app synchs with the bride’s theknot.com account to count down the days to their wedding, maintain the wedding day checklist, track their budget and so much more.

Appy Couple: Free on iPhone and Android, Appy Couple combines wedding details and events with the guest list. Couples can tell their proposal story, which events are coming up and photos. Guests are able to comment on details, meet other wedding attendees and share photos from the big day.

Fun Wedding: Once the reception hall is booked and the caterer is selected, couples are ready to create a reception playlist.  The Fun Wedding app, available for $1.99 on iPhone, helps brides and grooms create a music playlist that will keep guests dancing all through the night with help from wedding DJ’s.

WedPics: A popular way to track photo memories during weddings is to place disposable cameras on tables but where do you develop them? With WedPics, free for iPhone and Android users, wedding guests can upload wedding day photos to a virtual album with their smartphones that the bride and groom can later edit and share.

Wedding Budget: Keep a wedding budget can be a major challenge but with the Wedding Budget app, engaged couples no longer have to worry. Free for iPhone, this app keeps track of expenses and shows a clear view of budget status to keep couples in the black during their wedding planning.

WeddingScan: This app is a virtual gift registry that allows engaged couples to register for any item, at any store.  Start an account on weddingscan.com to create a registry that guests can access and make purchases from. This app is available for $2.99 on iPhone.

SeatingPlanner+: Creating a seating arrangement that keeps all guests happy can be a huge task for brides and grooms. This app, which couples can purchase for $0.99 on their iPhone, can generate random seating charts, import guests from phone contacts or Facebook and track who has accepted or declined invitations.

Brides WEDDING GENIUS 2.0: This free app on iPhone is the go-to for brides-to-be. They are able to browse bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses, his and her jewelry and honeymoon destinations. If a bride sees the perfect item, she is able to “Find It” at a store in her area with this app.
