Tutu~ Tuesday: First Lesson; Welcome
Welcome to our first Tutu~ Tuesday. I hope you will enjoy this new journey with us as we enter the world of tiny dancers, leotards and lots of tulle.
Miss Z started a introduction to dance class recently and she wanted me to share it with the This Mamas Life readers…
Because of the relatively rural area we are in there isn’t a lot of options close by for dance. So when the Zumba studio in a near by town announced that they were opening their doors for Friday dance classes, I was excited!
When I told Miss Z about it, she started jumping up and down she was so excited.
Because she had never taken a dance class before, I decided a Combo/ Intro to Dance class would be our best option. I works out to 1 month each of ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop. They even have a little gymnastics in there for good measure. Miss Z was placed in the 6-8 combo group. The best part of her walking into an unknown situation was the massive smile on her face when she recognized half of the girls from her old school. Please note that not only have I blurred the the faces of the little girls in the photo for their privacy, I have intentionally kept the photos small as well. I don’t want someones mom upset because I posted their face with out consent
On her first day there was a little “get to know each other” session for about 5 minutes. Then their instructor Ms. M introduced her self and explained what they would be doing.
When they finished warm ups it was down to business…
I am a new dance mom so I was fascinated by everything they were doing. The first class consisted of some basic jumps and steps, nothing super fancy. I think the instructor was getting a feel for the girls and how well they listened, followed instruction and could remember the steps that she told them to do.
Some of it involved steps then jumps.. Look at how high she gets up!
She loved this little uni-tard that a cousin provided for her. She wanted to wear it all weekend.
Keeping 6 little girls on task is no easy feat…
but the instructor is awesome at keeping them in step… even if they forget to stay in line 🙂
She can not wait to see what happens next week. This mama just hopes her excitement lasts and she doesn’t get nervous when it comes time to dance in front of a crowd, on stage.
Do you have any advice for this new dance mama who is more than a little nervous about all this?
