Beaded necklaces are one of the most popular bead projects to make. You do not need a lot of materials to create one of these necklaces, which is definitely a good thing. Once you have completed making your first beaded necklace, you will have the basic skills that you need to create other decadent pieces of jewelry that you will be proud to be seen adorning.
1. Decide what length you want your necklace to be. You will need to purchase some beading thread at beadsbarn that corresponds with your necklaces length. Make sure that you purchase a few extra inches of thread, just to be on the safe side when making one of these jewelry pieces.
2. Gather together all of the beads that you want to appear on your necklace. Aside from having a few basic beads, you will also need to have a couple of spacer beads to place between the larger beads that you thread into your necklace. Make sure aside from your beads and spacer beads that you have at least one clasp and a couple of bead tips that will help you secure the end of the necklace where the clasp will appear.
3. Place all of your beads on a flat surface, to try to figure out the design of your necklace.
4. Know the end of your thread, using scissors to cut off any thread that precedes the knot you made.
5. Place some glue on the knot to keep it from falling apart, once you start beading. Make sure you give the glue some time to dry before you start placing your beads on the thread.
6. Start stringing your beads onto the thread.
7. Make some knots after the beads are threaded to keep them in place.
8. Once all of your beads have been threaded, attach the clasp to the backside of the necklace. Repeat the attachment steps for the other side.
