Summer is FINALLY here! The weather is finally warm… The rain has seamed to subside… The sun is shinning….and And the Kids are OUTSIDE! Lil C always loves to play outside – Coloring with Chalk, Running around, Playing Catch…But with all the fun of summer, there also comes the caution of Mother Nature. To keep us having fun and staying safe this summer, we have turned to some Healthy Essentials by Johnson & Johnson.
The other week, Lil C went to the park with his relatives. He was properly dressed, and had sunscreen on his face and on the part of his arms that were exposed from his shirt. No one was planning on going into the water, but I guess it was quite hot outside and I know how well my son can give the puppy dog eyes … So he took off his shirt and went and played in the water… Yeah, One thing that everyone forgot was they didn’t have any sunscreen. So naturally he got a little (big) Sunburn.
(This is a couple days post Sun)
I did learn that lil C REALLY loves the water. That’s why we got an inflatable pool for the back yard . One thing that I have learned from my past – is how easily you can burn when you are on/in the water, So I make sure that Lil C gets Doused in sunscreen. This year we are trying a new brand. The Neutrogena Wet Skin Kids Sunscreen is – by far – Lil C’s Favorite. He keeps telling me how he likes how it smells. Which to a kid, that is important. But to a mom, the Protection level is what is most important.
Lil C is also learning how to ride a 2 wheeler with no training wheels. While riding his bike, he is always told that he needs to wear a helmet. With Training wheels, it is fairly difficult to tip the bike over … Well, take that back, he has managed to get going so fast that his legs weren’t able to keep up and going into a turn he crashed… But that was far and few between. Now that we are looking at taking off the training wheels, We have to make sure not only are we prepared with his helmet, but we need to make sure we have plenty of Band-Aids and Neosporin on hand.
And the Neosporin and BandAids are not only for lil C. Even the Glamorous Moi can be a klutz – and require a little first aid attention. That’s why even when We are going somewhere fancy – like a wedding – I make sure to keep a BandAid in my purse, along with my makeup. You can never be too prepared for any minor scrapes or cuts.

My daughter is very fair skinned (like her daddy). My boys are both a little more olive skinned (like me). I put sunscreen on both of the older ones (Baby is too young for sunscreen yet) every time we plan to go to the park or pool. I’m going to have to try the Neutragena. I like what we’re currently using, it works great! But smells like sunscreen. You know? My daughter, especially, would probably like something that smelled better.
I also keep band aids handy! I grew up believing band aids were the cute all! 😉 I have passed this belief on to my children. Any little thing… “I need a band aid!” However, they’re fun and inexpensive and help make the hurt/crying stop! So I’m all for them!
