When I was younger, my parents owned a boat… During the summer we were constantly spending the weekend out on the lakes. Back then it didn’t seem like much of a big deal when it came to protection… just as long as we had life jackets we were good. Now, as a parent myself, I know much better. Now when we go on the boat, not only do we pack the life jackets and sun screen, we take sure to have proper protection for our eyes. Real Kids Shades offers a great line of eyewear for kids.
A little about Real Kids Shades:  Real Kids Shades are specifically constructed to fit kids’ faces and their lifestyles. Our My First Shades line was designed with the help of a pediatric ophthalmologist for optimal fit, comfort and safety. All our sunglasses are made exclusively for infants and children in kid-approved styles that are shatterproof, impact-resistant and adaptable to sports and active lifestyles.
Kids need to be active, outdoors and in their sunglasses. Made to be worn year-round, our banded frames fit just as well under ski helmets as they do bike helmets. Our patented neoprene bands with Velcro® adjustable closures keep them secure and in place on the court or in the yard. And they’re tough. Real Kids Shades are made to be outgrown before worn out.IMG_1923

Real Kids Shades was generous and sent me some awesome shades for both the kids. Lil C got 2 pair and Lil Miss got 2 for herself as well.  Lil C received the Flex Duo and the Xtreme Element. His favorite is the flex duo… He says its because they are easy to put on… I think it is because they are some of his favorite colors: orange and blue! For the boat, I prefer the Xtreme Element  because it has the strap going around his head! That way I know there is a tight seal so his eyes don’t get wind burnt, and I know they will stay on his head! With lil C being 6 we got the ones that were made for ages 3-7. For lil miss, we got her the ones rated for ages 7-12. She turned 11 this year so we figured they would be great for her… She Received the Xtreme Convertible in white and the Glide in Pink.   She loves the Xtreme Convertible, but the other was a hair small…. which is good for me…. because they fit me fine! Looks like I have a new pair of sunglasses for myself.  The Xtreme Convertible offers 2 ways to wear – With the regular sun-glass arms, or with a strap that goes around her head. (once again this is a great feature for us boaters)

I learned that these were first designed with the help of a pediatric ophthalmologist. Great to know that they really put the consideration into protecting the eyes not just the style

Regular kids shades only darken so the pupils widen, which causes more damage to the eye! Real Kids Shades offer REAL UVA and UVB protection, just like adult glases!

I learned they’re shatter-proof. If only my sunglasses could stay intact for more than a couple years…
