As parents we want our kids to have access to things that they love, like cartoons and electronics, but that doesn’t mean that they should always have those things.  Tablets for adults are simply not made to withstand the hands of a toddler or preschooler. They can seriously be brutal. Not only can the kids break it easily, the apps on most tablets are not what I want to have the kids playing. I want them to be playing games that are also teaching them. PBS KIDS has launched 2 things for parents who are concerned about what their kids are playing and watching. Introducing the first tablet featuring educational content and parental controls.

Even though kids love cartoons, that doesn’t mean that are cartoons are good for little ones to watch. Some shows just have the wrong content. When my young ones watch tv, I want it to serve a purpose. I want them to learn something at the same time.

I know that everything on PBS KIDS is appropriate for the kids and they will be learning something. The PBS KIDS tablet, with 16GB, is a kid tough tablet that is a one-stop destination for PBS KIDS’s educational content. It comes with 25 games, 120 video clips and music videos preloaded on the tablet. There is also 100+ hours of video on the PBS Kids Video App. The Playtime Pad features a front-and-back camera and a Paint Box coloring app that encourages kids to flex their creative skills. There are controls that enable parents to customize the device for each of their children, set limits on screen time using a play timer and manage what kids can access.

Parents also have options now for streaming PBS KIDS straight to the tv.

The first kids’ TV and playtime streaming stick, PBS KIDS Plug & Play provides a one-stop place for PBS KIDS content. It comes pre-loaded with sing-alongs, exclusive games and other original content that doesn’t have to connected to wi-fi. PBS KIDS Plug & Play will transform any TV into an interactive, safe, educational playtime experience.

When the PBS KIDS Plug & Play is connected to Wi-Fi, there are even more features. There is free access to PBS’s new 24/7 channel and live stream in partnership with local PBS stations. The channel features more than 100 hours of on-demand videos, that needs no subscriptions. PBS is always coming up with fresh content, including new videos, special seasonal content and more, is also added regularly at no additional cost. Kids will love that the PBS KIDS Plug & Play looks like a toy racecar and comes with a child-friendly remote.
