I know all of us have hit organizational brick walls at one time or another in our life. I seem to hit it on a daily basis! It seems that no matter how hard I try to get my house in some sorts of Organized pattern… My 4 year old decides he has another plan..and helps me UNorganize it. I would have to say that one of my biggest obstacles when it came to being organized was when I started doing product reviews on my blog. It started off slow… Getting one item here and one item there… but then when it came to Christmas time, I did not know how to prepare. I didn’t know how to schedule posts… And I never even thought about Getting Reviews done ASAP, and launching the review later. I tried keeping items separated for my Christmas Event and then for my Blogtastic Extravaganza Event… and then I had a separate box for things I got in for Valentines… But my hubby would just go behind me and try to condense boxes… and It would just all get put together… So I was back to not knowing where I started… Well Since then… I cant say I have conquered my organizational problems… But I have succeeded in getting something on track. I have realized that when you have things in an order… Any type of order, as long as you understand it… things are much easier to sort through and less stressful when it comes to finding things. Also with becoming a blogger I have always found time to read my favorite Coupon Clipping blogs… and I have managed to gain a LOT of free soap and deodorants… And Have gotten things ready for Multiple Wedding showers… Which I have finally gotten Organized! It makes things so much easier to find. My favorite way of organization… is using clear bins for the small deodorants and soaps…and then the large Rubbermaid tubs for the gifts!
A little about Pretty Neat: Negative self-image. Fantasy-induced overspending. Marital tension. A new kind of airbrushed concoction is wreaking havoc on homes and psyches, and Sarah Welch and Alicia Rockmore have a name for it: org porn. It’s in magazines, coffee table books, advertisements, and TV shows, promoting a perfect — and entirely imaginary — world in which everything is always pristine, serene, and flawlessly organized. Pretty Neat is a handbook that embraces the chaotic reality that lies beneath org porn’s glossy veneer, offering pithy anecdotes and candid advice from experts and real women alike on tackling organizational inertia. Funny, irreverent, entertaining, and helpful, the book covers all facets of clutter-control, from tried-and-true tips for conquering to-do lists and wrangling family schedules to ideas on excavating inboxes, eliminating excuses, and delegating housework. Most importantly, Pretty Neat insists that women need to stop holding themselves to impossibly high standards, and focus instead on defining their own, realistic organizational goals. Full of engaging examples from everyday women, Pretty Neat offers readers unorthodox, surprisingly simple methods to reduce their org porn–fueled stress, insisting that perfection is impossible — and unnecessary — in this messy, unpredictable world called real life (amazon.com)
So when I received “Pretty Neat” to read… I was all over it. This book has many different tips on how to de-clutter your life. This has also made me realize that Organization is different for everyone. Some things – like lists work for some, where others.. it is a never ending battle. I love the Q&A sections.
