Tis the season for hot cereal. My son and I both wait for the bus in the morning before the sun even comes up. I want to make sure that his belly is full of warm food when standing outside in freezing weather. But I don’t want to just feed him whatever I can warm up. I want to make sure that his breakfast is filling, as well as wholesome. I first ran across the Quaker Oats Miller’s Batch Canadian Prairie Oats the other day at Kroger. The simple packaging caught my attention. And I knew I just needed to try it.
Miller’s Batch is only found in select Kroger stores in Michigan and Colorado. Miller’s Batch Oatmeal is inspired by Quaker’s 140 years of heritage and passion for grains. They forged partnerships with others who were equally as passionate about their craft. Their network includes small farmers to next-generation millers.
A little about Miller’s Batch – Canadian Prairie Oats:
Miller’s Batch Canadian Prairie Oats are sourced from one farm in Saskatchewan – home to some of the highest quality oats in the world! Miller’s Batch is created from a thicker oat flake with a heartier texture. Once the oats are grown, they are milled. The Canadian Prairie Oats are Organic whole grain rolled oats.
A Little about Miller’s Batch – California Valley
Miller’s Batch California Valley is organically grown by Quaker. This particular recipe features hand-harvested raisins and sun-dried almonds from California’s Central Valley, nestled against the Sierra Mountains. The California Valley oats are expertly milled with patience and precision, honoring our 140-year heritage. (Ingredients: ORGANIC WHOLE GRAIN ROLLED OATS, ORGANIC ROLLED BARLEY, ORGANIC RAISINS, ORGANIC CANE SUGAR, ORGANIC PISTACHIOS, ORGANIC ALMONDS, ORGANIC QUINOA, SALT, NATURAL FLAVOR. These packets are super simple to make. You only need 1/3 cup of boiling water to add to the packet of Miller’s Batch California Valley Oatmeal. The vibrant colors of the nuts and raisins shine through when the water is added.
Typically I only like oatmeal when I can make it into cookies. That was up until trying the Miller’s Batch California Blend. I even had ‘Lil C close his eyes and give it a fair try. The flavor of this blend really surprised him. He also said that he’d love to eat it for breakfast on the cold winter days!
Even though my local store only carried the Miller’s Batch Canadian Prairie Oats and the California Valley, there is also another flavor; Rocky Mountain Harvest.
- Rocky Mountain Harvest is an organic multigrain oatmeal blend. Their tart, yet sweet Montgomery cherries, grown in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, are uniquely delicious as a result of the warm days and cool nights in Utah. (Ingredients: ORGANIC WHOLE GRAIN ROLLED OATS, ORGANIC ROLLED BARLEY, ORGANIC SWEETENED DRIED CHERRIES, ORGANIC CANE SUGAR, ORGANIC DRIED BLUEBERRIES, ORGANIC QUINOA, SALT, NATURAL FLAVOR.
Which of the Miller’s Batch flavors would you try first?
