This is the first Easter that the Hubby and I will have together as a married couple…. but unfortunately we don’t have either of the kids this year. They will both be with their other parents. So we decided that we were going to celebrate Easter a little early. But neither the hubby or I have a lot of time during the day to Prepare a full Easter meal. That’s when we turned to HoneyBaked Ham for all our Easter meal needs. When I received my HoneyBaked Gift card, I went online to get an idea of what Sides were carried by our local Store. I also wanted to find out roughly what the prices were and to see if there were any available coupons for my local store. Which they did!
Saturday morning, while I was at work, I sent my hubby to the Roseville Michigan location.
They are open Monday through Saturday, 10am -6pm – so he got there first thing when the doors opened. Knowing we were going to invite my parents over to celebrate an early Easter with us, He got an 8lb Ham and 3 sides. We wanted to go a little bigger on the ham, because we both love Ham, and I have heard that it freezes really well. I didn’t give hubby any instructions on what sides to grab -besides to get the Garlic Potatoes. He choose to wing the rest!
Hubby chose to get Stuffing, Apple slices and also my favorite the Garlic Potatoes. When he picked them up, they were frozen, So he let them thaw throughout the day while he was working on our van. About an hour before we were planning on everyone coming over, he unwrapped them and threw them in the oven. We let them bake for about 30 minutes, that was long enough to bake them most the way through. Then we turned down the heat and put in the ham. The ham is already pre-cooked, so you can eat it cold, but we prefer it warm when it comes to having ham for dinner. Knowing that a full 8lbs was going to be too much ham for the 6 of us, We cut it in half. They recommend that you warm it for 10 minutes per pound (So for a 4lb ham, its 40 minutes… for a 8lb ham its 80 minutes).
My mom was slightly skeptical when she found out we were having ham for dinner. I guess I cant blame her. The last time that we invited them over for Ham dinner we announced that we were pregnant. I was going to try to come up with something clever to tell them, but Pregnancy brain wouldn’t allow me. I loved the fact that neither the hubby or I had to stay behind the Stove ALL day just to prepare a Holiday Meal. Especially since I am no gourmet cook myself.
I really want to thank HoneyBaked Ham for helping us Celebrate our Easter a few weeks early.
They really think of everything when it comes to making a perfect meal! And they can help you celebrate your Easter Too. Twenty lucky people will win a $50.00 Gift Card for HoneyBaked Ham.
