Count down has begun. BlogHer is officially under a week away. I will be landing in the Great city of NYC on Thursday morning. I dont mind flying one bit, but there somethings about this trip that make me a slight bit nervous
1. I have NEVER been to New York.
2. Usually I travel just to visit family – so we usually have someone waititng at the airport that I know. not this time…I wont know anyone
3. What happens if I get lost? How are we going to find our way to the hotel.
4. What if the other bloggers dont like me? Everyone laughs at me when I say that i have that fear, but thats me.
So, Knowing that BlogHer is Full of Thousands of bloggers and Company Reps. Ill give everyone a brief overview of who I am. Here are 5 things that most people dont know about me.
1. I am SHY! VERY SHY! I may not seem like I am when I am behind the computer, but there’s something about actually meeting people face to face that I just dont know how to say hi! Once you get me to break my shell… I am super easy to get along with.
2. I work full time as a Retail Sales manager. Go Figure.. This is so contradicting of my 1st statement about me. When I am at work… I can look you in the eye and tell you whatever you want to know when it comes to shoes (specificially athletic shoes like nike and aasics and new balance and those kind… But I am sure that After BlogHer I will be able to tell you all about an awesome shoe company called NaughtyMonkeys .)
3. I am officially a single Mom. I have a son who is 5 1/2 years old. I was married for 6 years. And The divorce was finalized on July 17th. It was a bitter sweet ending. And hopefully from here on, my new chapter will be even better than the last.
4. I am Short… Well, in my eyes I am short. I am only 5’3. I have lost over 20lbs the past few months, so I defiantly feel a little more proportional. I have shoulder length brown hair… Which Even though everyone likes it down and it can look cute down – you will probably see me in a Pony Tail all through New York.
5. You will see me dressied up while in New York. I am so a T-shirt and jeans girl, but I do love to get dressied every now and then. So my bag is already packed with dressy slacks and tops and… and yeah I did throw a pair of jeans into the mix.. but I swear that’s just for traveling! lol
I am so looking forward to meeting many of the wonderful bloggers while at this event. Especially Mimi from Woven By Words and Brett from This Mama Loves. I cant wait to tell you all my stories when I get back!
You will not get lost. I promise. Do you have a smartphone? Download HopStop, pick up a metro card once you get into the city (ask the hotel or just go down any subway stairs for a kiosk), and you can enter any address and HopStop will tell you where to go. Otherwise worst case grab a cab (just stick your arm out when you see them, if they are available they’ll stop) and tell the cab driver where you need to go (this is the more expensive way, but you won’t get lost.)
Have you checked to see if there is someone landing the same time as you?
Looking forward to meeting you!
Fabulous! I hope to see you at BlogHer!
I will rock a ponytail with you. Mostly because the baby pulls my hair but also because it’s easier.
Jeans are totally a staple in my wardrobe and I only have one pair of denim capris in my packing pile. Let’s just hope I don’t end up wearing them every day.
I can’t think of a day without blue Denim!
Your fears are totally normal. I’ve never been to NYC and I’m a little afraid of the big city. But everyone will be in the same boat. Get cell phone numbers, use Twitter. Last year, I needed a lunch buddy and randomly tweeted that with the BlogHer hashtag. I had ten lunch dates in the matter of minutes.
And I am ALL about jeans. I’m bringing one pair too – mostly for the day before the conference kicks off when I’m out sight-seeing!
I hope we get to meet!!
You are going to LOVE New York, it really does have this vibe that draws you in. Enjoy it as much as you can. Hope to see you!
