Last summer we had the opportunity to Visit Fort Rapids and take both of the kids. They LOVED it. So when we had the chance to go again – it was unanimous -we were all for doing it. The drive to Fort Rapids was about 5 hours from where we live… So, we took the kids out of school a little early…. Just so we didn’t have to leave at the butt crack of dawn or get there late late at night. In case you’re unfamiliar with Fort Rapids, here is a little from their website: Fort Rapids is the perfect family fun travel destination where 60,000 square feet of wet and wild fun is waiting for the whole family. Come relax and unwind in one of our guest rooms or family style villa suites, then zip down 12 unique water rides, float in the lazy river, get drenched by the 1,000 gallon tipping bucket and win big at the 5,000 square foot Gold Rush Arcade. Then, stop by the Branding Iron Grille or Copper Star Saloon for lunch or dinner.
When we arrived, we were greeted by the desk staff. They were very welcoming and friendly. It appeared that there was a newer desk clerk, and the others were very willing to help with any questions he had. Our first stop was to settle In. We stayed in the Havazu Canyon Room. This room was AMAZING. It was like walking into a mini apartment. There were 2 separate bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms (both with showers in them). This worked great for the kids – that way they could shower at the same time and not have to miss a thing!
This is the first thing that you saw when you entered our room (your room will most likely be missing the child. ) In the corner there is a little fireplace. (and behind the TV was a hook up for video games!)
The Kid’s room had 2 separate beds, and 1 Television. They thought they were King and Queen of the world – having such large beds to sleep in! And having a TV that they could watch cartoons on – and not have to watch boring “Grown up TV Show”. Obviously, the beds must have been super comfy, because neither of them wanted to wake up in the mornings.
The bed in the second room was Super large – and in a way, it was too large for the two of us (we’re so use to a full or a queen size bed that sleeping in a King bed seems like a whole new universe). For the most part, we slept soundly (when we finally were able to fall asleep) The first night we were there, the room above us was OBNOXIOUSLY loud. Even though there are signs posted all over that quiet time starts at 11pm, it was around 130am when my guy had enough of them and mentioned it to the hotel staff. Thankfully, they were quieted down and we got a great rest of the night sleep. I love how easy it was to find hotel staff to help with our needs – no matter what time. And even though it was middle of the night, the staff was still very friendly about everything.
Both of the kids favorite Rides was the “Toilet Bowl”. Well, that’s what lil Miss called it – and of course lil C LOVED that name – so it stuck. Unfortunatly, he was only allowed to go down it once. Poor lil guy tried sooo hard to stand up tall enough to make the height requirement. He succeeded the first time, but after they changed life guards, and he was a little worn out, he really missed the height requirement by less than 1/2 of an inch! He was bummed… But I think Lil Miss was more bummed in the long run. She was looking forward to showing Lil C all the fun rides! I will give the lifeguards props for doing their jobs. And not just slacking off and letting anyone go on.
Sunday we had to check out at 11. And because it was a long drive back home, and lil Miss needed to be back to her moms house…. We chose to go to the arcade. Both the kids made out like bandits! This was just a handful of tickets they won. These tickets… got both the kids… TONS of little toys. My favorite thing that they both picked out was the Chinese Finger Trap. Oh, it was so funny watching Lil C get frustrated that he couldn’t get his fingers out of it. (Yes, we did tell him the trick to getting out of them, but up until he broke them, they were one of his favorite toys. He would play with them every day)
Fort Rapids is one of our most favored water-parks. Even though it is a little bit of a Hike to get down there, both the kids LOVE the rooms, and they love the water-park. And we loved the accommodation of the staff. I am so hoping that we will be able to visit the wonderful staff again next summer!
