This July was full of Lot’s of fun and excitement. But the most exciting thing that happened was for my boyfriend and I to have been able to take both of our kids on an outing. We took them to Fort Rapids in Columbus, Ohio. And even though the drive was a little Long, We had a Blast! This was the first weekend that I had lil C for the weekend since his dad and I separated a year previous…. And my guy had his daughter for the weekend so it was PERFECT timing and a Great way to celebrating his daughters upcoming birthday!
In case you’re unfamiliar with Fort Rapids, here is a little from their website: Fort Rapids is the perfect family fun travel destination where 60,000 square feet of wet and wild fun is waiting for the whole family. Come relax and unwind in one of our guest rooms or family style villa suites, then zip down 12 unique water rides, float in the lazy river, get drenched by the 1,000 gallon tipping bucket and win big at the 5,000 square foot Gold Rush Arcade. Then, stop by the Branding Iron Grille or Copper Star Saloon for lunch or dinner
From where we live, it took about 5 hours to get there. Neither of the kids had any idea where we were going. So, we got the … Are we there yet? question a gazillion times. Then when we got to Fort Rapids, the first thing out of both of their mouths was do they have a pool. Us grown ups laughed and were like, naw, I dont think so. Check in at Fort Rapids is 4pm. We got there around 1pm, and went to the front desk to see if there was an open room, or if they had an idea of when we’d be able to check in and VOILA! There was already a room to be had! I was super excited – and the front staff was amazing.
The Room was HUGE! There were 2 Queen Size Beds and a TV in one section, a small diving wall, and then a Couch, chair and another TV. This is great for families with kids – that Way you don’t have a Fight over who watches what on TV.
We did make our way to the Water park! This was not only the kids favorite part of the trip – but it was mine and my hunny’s as well! Lil C LOVED the play tower – because he was constantly able to be on the go! There were slides and bridges and Water Everywhere. One of my favorite parts is at the top of the tower, there was a LARGE bucket of water… and if you were in the right spot at the right time – and werent paying attention – you got SOAKED!!!! It happened to lil C once… and ONLY once – he made sure to pay attention and stay away from that side of the playscape.
Lil Miss LOVED the Toilet bowl (Black Out Pass)- well that’s what she called it. You go down a large tube – and into what reminds us of a toilet bowl! This lead down another tube and into the Lazy River. Lil C tried to go on this, but because he was about 2 inches too short – they wouldnt let him on any of the slides – not even when I was accompanying him (They did have 2 person rafts) Even though he was upset about it, as a parent, I was glad that the staff was doing their job and making sure everyone followed the rules.
But just because Lil C wasnt allowed on the 2 sets of slides (Black Out Pass and Ambush Alley/ RagingBull), he was able to go on the 4 person Shoot Out Racer. He and I went down this once – He loved it – Me…. not so much. I don’t like not having any light – and it is completely dark at the beginning of the decent! He was able to go on this ride- and chose to…. Over and Over…and Over…and Over again. I know he loved being part of the big kid crowd. And that was just the first day!
The second day was a little shorter. We did get to test out the Arcade. Super Awesome! We all love arcade style games The kids came home with Tons of stuff – Decks of Cards, Candy and Much Much More! It was so much fun! Unfortunately we had to cut this day very short. I had to be at work at 7pm that night – and Jeff had to get Lil Miss back home by 6pm.. we left around 1130.
All around this was one of our most memorable vacations in quite a while. Lil C is already asking when we can go back. He wont mind the long car ride!
