Tis the season for holiday parties!  I’d love for all of you to think I am the perfect hostess and holiday guest. However, the truth is that I’m a huge procrastinator and finding gifts for people is tough for me. I especially find it hard to decide on hostess gifts.

When it comes to gifts for party hosts, I’m like a guy. I stop at the gas station and pick up a half rotten bouquet of flowers. Then upon arrival at the party, I hurriedly hand the stinky carnations to the hostess with some loud and brazen announcement like “I’m here! Let the party begin!”

I’m really surprised they keep inviting me back.

Anyway, this year, I’m bringing Dopff & Irion Cremant  d’Alsace Brut Blanc de Blancs NV with me. It’s sure to be a holiday to remember. Partly because me bringing a decent hostess gift is a memorable occasion, and also because I liven up even more with cocktails. (Shocking, I know.)

As you might have guessed, I gave this little number a taste beforehand (Don’t worry – I bought a new bottle for the hostess!) and it’s absolutely delicious. The bottle full of bubbles is made in France in the beautiful region of Alsace. The Cremant is made using the the traditional “champagne method” from a blend of 50% pinot Blanc and 50% Pinot Auxerrois.

The flavor is round and elegant, and a bottle of wine or champagne is always well-appreciated by a party host(ess). Additionally, it costs about the same as wilting flowers – suggested retail price is $21.

Even if you think you’re a good gift giver, do yourself a favor and bring a bottle to your next holiday party. Be smart – grab two bottles. One for the party and one for the way home in case the party’s a bust! (Don’t drink and drive, obviously!)

What do you typically bring as a hostess gift?

I don’t get invited to parties… but a bottle of bubbly sounds like a good choice!
