I know everyone is trying save a dollar here and there… And Cell Phone Plans can be a great place to start saving. Verizon has a couple great tips that can help you save money with your cellphone plan.
How can you Save?
1. Analyze the amount of time you spend talking on the phone every month over a period of time. Find the average. If you are consistently using fewer (or more) than your allotted minutes, consider adjusting your plan.
2. Considered bundled apps instead of purchasing a la carte. With so many apps available on today’s smartphones, Verizon Wireless is giving customers an option (Smartphone App Pack) to purchase some of its most popular apps, including NFL Mobile Premium, Verizon Video, VZ Navigator®, Visual Voicemail, Usage Controls and a Ringback Tones subscription in one bundle for less than it costs to purchase individually.
3. Trade It In! Trade in used devices (phones, smartphones, netbooks or tablets) and get the appraised value on a Verizon Wireless gift card to use that very day with the In Store Trade-In Program. Also, for a limited time, upgrade-eligible customers who move up to a smartphone and trade in their basic phone (either online or in a store) will get a minimum $30 Verizon Wireless gift card.
Verizon Wireless offers a variety of free tools that customers can use to monitor and manage their accounts.
1. Customers can check data usage by dialing #DATA and pressing send from Verizon Wireless phones to receive a free text message with the information. Customers can also monitor data usage directly from their smartphone via My Verizon Mobile or online through My Verizon.
2. In addition, customers with data plans also can download a Data Usage Widget to most Android™ smartphones, BlackBerry® devices and tablets. The widget tracks usage with a quick glance at the phone screen and with one click connects to the customer’s My Verizon Mobile account.
3. It can be confusing to figure out which files are which size. The Data Usage Calculator, available on verizonwireless.com, takes out the guesswork by providing information about common features and activities that utilize data and estimating total monthly data usage.
4. Smartphone users receive free text message alerts when their data usage crosses thresholds of 50 percent, 75 percent, 90 percent, 100 percent and 110 percent of their data plans’ monthly allowances. Customers who are registered with My Verizon, the online account management tool, may also request email alerts and can add up to three additional email addresses to receive the notifications
Take advantage of options to limit data usage
1. Do you need constant updating of email? If not, consider changing the setting to “manual” and update only when you need to.
2. Use mobile versions of websites. These sites are data-streamlined for smartphones. You can find the mobile versions in many cases designed specifically for your device (i.e. Facebook for Android) in your app marketplace.
3. Take advantage of the WiFi capability on your smartphone and use WiFi for larger data like streaming videos.
You can also save by using your cellphone for shopping. Heres some ways to have Cost-savings through shopping apps
1. ShopSavvy4 – Android Market (FREE): Enables users to compare prices both in-store and online to find the best bargain on anything from markers to bedding.
2. Amazon Mobile and Amazon Price Check – iTunes App Store (FREE): The Amazon Mobile app lets you search for items via text, barcode, or by picture using the Amazon Remembers feature. You can also access your Amazon account.
3. Red Laser: Android and iTunes (FREE): Red Laser is a free scanning application for iPhone and Android that lets users check prices, find in stores nearby and check food allergens, among other uses.
