With having a little one on the way, I have been looking over all the recommended items to put on a baby registry.  I was surprised when I kept seeing that everyone recommended that you register for a Humidifier.  It is something that I would have never thought of putting on my registry – until I actually received one myself.    Crane USA sent me one of their Drop Humidifiers for this event.IMG_20140326_082350_366

A little about the Crane Cool Mist Humidifier:   Ultrasonic humidifiers generate a cool mist when a thin film of water is passed over a rapidly vibrating transducer. The vibration breaks the water up into tiny droplets and emits a whisper quiet cool mist.  Whereas Warm mist humidifiers produce a warm mist by boiling the water in the humidifier to produce steam.  For Cold and Flu symptoms, A cool mist humidifier is preferred over a warm mist humidifier because the water does not boil.

Ever since we received the Crane Humidifier, we have been using it in our bedroom to see how well it works.  With winter, and having the heat on, our house gets so dry.  You move your clothes…Zap!  Get too close to someone… Zap!  Touch the door handle… Zap!  Waking up in the morning with your nose so dry that you cant even breath…  You can tell that there is just no humidity in the air.   Every night we fill the humidifier and turn it on before we get ready for bed and let it run all night.   Not only did it help with all the static electricity in our bedroom, but both hubby and myself have been getting better sleep at night.  We have been waking up in the morning able to breath and not having any bloody noses.  This is going to be a great improvement for Peanut’s room when she’s here!  Keeping some moisture in the air is defiantly good for all of us.

Specifically, humidifiers help with the following:
• Loosen nasal congestion
• Ease dry coughs
• Sooth itchy dry skin
• Moisten chapped lips
• Prevent nose bleeds

One interesting thing that I have learned through Crane was how a Humidifier can help while breastfeeding.  This is what Crane says about Breastfeeding and Humidifiers: ” When breastfeeding, it is important for infants to be able to easily breathe through their noses. Using a humidifier helps to loosen nasal congestion, prevent nosebleeds and moisten sinus and nasal passages making breathing through the nose much easier. If your infant cannot easily breathe through his or her nose, it can be frustrating and difficult for mother and child during nursing.”    It makes complete sense.

We love this humidifier! We used it when we lived up north and it works wonders. When we moved back to Florida, we gave it to a friend who needed it and now I’m kicking myself! I think we’ll be buying a new one for baby!

This is a nice humidifier! We only need a humidifier during the coldest of the Winter here, since we have so much natural humidity. I hate static electricity though, so I’ll have to check into this humidifier.

it is so important to have one I think. I know when I lived with my daughter and grandson, we kept one running in my grandsons room, mainly if he started getting sick

My son had a horrible time with nosebleeds. I think having a humidifier can really help that. Not to mention, it’s nice to help keep the dry skin itchies away.

Good point about cold mist versus warm mist. We had a warm mist humidifier in my son’s room and recently just bought a cold mist one because we heard they were better.
