Clyde Mae Whiskey has been making craft whiskey for over 70 years. Starting in an illegal still tucked away in the Conecuh Ridge in Alabama, Clyde May created his first batch of craft whiskey. He made small batches in charred oak barrels, from the start, because it was easier to hide from the authorities. He did eventually pay the price for following his passion and spent 8 months in a federal prison. But a passion is a passion, and the day he was released, he started his new still.

Clyde May lived outside the law and outside of the bourbon belt. He might have been a moonshiner but has always been a craftsman by heart. He was determined to make the best whiskey Alabama has ever tasted, and he named it Alabama Style™. What is Alabama Style? Using copper stills, and fresh Alabama spring water and only the finest local grains, Clyde May made whiskey and added his own unique blends. He added oven-dried apples to the barrels. It gives the whiskey hints of green apple and cinnamon that makes it much smoother than other whiskeys.

Back in the day, the only way to get a bottle of Clyde Mae Whiskey was to know a guy who knew Clyde Mae. These days, it is available in stores in Arizona, Californa, DC, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, and New York.
