Diaper bags are a funny thing. You spend your entire life not needing one. Until you have kids. Then you spend the rest of your life wondering how you ever lived without one. Even when the kids are in college.

We’ve got big kids, little kids, and grandkids around here, so I keep a second diaper bag for “Nina’s house”. Inside it, I keep all the things that the kids forget to bring when they come over with the baby. Things like extra socks, a few pacifiers, a thermometer, etc. It’s sort of a catch-all for baby items. Almost like a Mary Poppins bag. You never know what Nina has in there.

I was really excited to be able to review the Claessens’ Kids 2-in-1 Diaper Bag. It’s a dual purpose bag – used as both a carrier and a bag. It’s perfect for what I need. The baby is still too small to sit on her own, so I used kiddo’s American Girl doll to demonstrate how it works. The cross-body strapped bag with a soft plush “seat” gives the mama (or in my case, the Nina) a little extra support holding the baby as well as still holding all the baby gear. The bag can be used as soon as the child can sit by him/herself. The bag is good for kids up to 44 lbs. Obviously, after 44 lbs, you can still use it as a diaper bag, but it won’t support the weight of a child.

The bag has all sorts of interior and exterior pockets, which are even easy to reach with the little one sitting on the bag. Also included are the soft and plushy changing bad, key holder, and a plastic pocket to hold any wet or dirty items. It’s not a huge bag to carry, but it’s pretty roomy inside.

It makes a perfect bag for quick trips to the grocery store, the beach, and the playground.  If you’ve ever had to carry a cranky child home from the park because they’ve played too hard and they’re too tired to walk, this is the bag for you. Now you really can carry them with less stress on your back and hips. No bulky stroller necessary. It’s really a genius idea.

Does your favorite diaper bag double as something else?
