Watching television the other day, there was a program on, and they were talking about body shapes – and how we carry our weight and fat.  Because of my shape, I’m considered an endomorph (gain weight easier and am shorter).  So one thing that was suggested was to raise our protein intake  (and lower our carb intake – but that’s neither here no there).  So in trying to make my lifestyle a little healthier, when I was asked to work with Chapul Flour, I jumped at the chance!   They sent me a Chapal sample pack including Baking Flour and Protein Bars.

ChapulChapul products are created with Crickets.

Crickets are high protein with a complete amino acid profile. They offer an alternative protein solution to traditionally raised beef, pork and chicken – they are humanely raised and sustainable.

Chapul-Bar-1The 1.8oz single-serve Chapul Bars come in four flavors.

  •  Matcha: With Matcha, Gogi & Nori
  • Aztec: With Chocolate, Coffee & Cayenne Pepper
  •  Thai: With Coconut, Ginger & Lime
  • Chaco: With Peanut Butter & Chocolate

Chapul-Bar-2

The Chaco Bar was by far my favorite.  I’m typically not a protein bar type of gal, but this has just the right mixture of Peanut butter and Chocolate!  Did you know that each bar contains 25 Crickets?  Chapul-Flour-1

The Chapul High-Protein Cricket Baking Flour packs 5 grams of protein per serving. This does not have the traditional white color that you may be use to when using flour.  It is more of an “unbleached” color.  Chapul-Flour-2
One thing that is great about this flour is you can substitute it for your regular flour in your recipes.  It is a 1:1 substitution for traditional wheat baking flour in your favorite recipes. And for those who have Gluten intolerance, the Chapul flour is gluten-free and non-GMO.

The Chapul Cricket Protein Powder is Made from 100% crickets with 23 grams protein and 2 grams of carbs per 35 gram serving.

If you’re interested in trying Chapul, it is currently available in over 500 stores nationally, including both natural and conventional grocers.  The complete Chapul line is available online with front door delivery!

Here’s your chance to try Chapul Cricket flour and Bars for yourself.  One lucky winner will receive a Chapul Sampler pack

Entry-Form
I received a Chapul Sample pack in exchange for this review.  All opinions expressed are 100% my own.  This Mama’s Life is not responsible for the distribution of the prize.

Wow. I learned that 80% of countries have insects, in one form or another, on their menus. Very interesting. I mean, I had no idea it was that many!

I have never heard of these. GREAT way to increase your protein! I think my husband would like the Aztec: With Chocolate, Coffee & Cayenne Pepper and I’d love to try the Peanut Butter and Chocolate!
