This is one of the first years that I have Actually been able to sit down and watch the Academy Awards… And to be able to sit down with my close friends… Sharing Orville Redenbacher’s Pop Up Bowls, having a few drinks…and sharing a bunch of laughs. The night cant get any better than that!
The night started off quiet…. While we waited for our guests to arrive… The lil guy helped clean up the house….and get our cupcakes ready….And patiently (well, he was quite impatiently) waited for our 3 closest friends to arrive. Some of us have not seen many of the movies (ahem…me) so… I got the quick jests from of them from everyone.
The red carpet…. OH, If I could only pull off those dresses!!! They were gorgeous!!!! The guys… Well, they could care less what outfits were worn. The only comments… was…. since all 3 of the guys do shave…they all comment on how the guys pull off the Scruffy Look (ya know the look of not shaving for a few days).. but if they were to not shave… they were scrubby feeling.. lol… Guess I am glad that I don’t have to worry about that.
Other highlights of the night… Bets on how many times Anne Hathaway changed outfits for this event. They all did HI/Low… They set the number at 4.5 changes…. Pretty much everyone guessed Higher than 4.5 outfit changes (so I took the Low option…) So Far… They are at 4 outfit changes… My hubby is asking if the .5 (half) is next!! Boy is he excited! lol Doh! Guess they had to explain why they used 4.5!
The rest of the night was all Cracking Jokes… Plays on words…. I don’t think I have ever laughed that much!!!! (by the way, I lost…. she changed more than 4.5 times! darn!) There were a lot of expected wins and some not so expected. Some great music… and…some.. well, some songs should be left to the original artists….!!I bet you want to know how i planned this great party…
I used Party Blu Prints to get a start on my Oscars party planning. This website is a great tool… It gives suggested meals/snacks, drink ideas and even games. For the Oscars they suggested Shrimp Shots, FRESH GUACAMOLE WITH TORTILLA CHIPS & CRUDITÉ, VEGETABLE QUESADILLAS and Red Velvet Cupcakes… And to drink they suggested California Margaritas. But… Everyone is a beer drinker, so we tried a newer Samual Adams variety pack. This went over great!
We chose to watch the Oscars with the traditional Movie Popcorn by Orville Redenbacher, Red Velvet Cupcakes and Hunts Jello pack for snacks… Along with candies… Decorations for the Cupcake were chosen by the Lil Man who wanted to go with the Toy Story 3 (OSCAR NOMINEE!!) theme.
