Banana Chocolate Chip Bars: A healthier sweet for a treat

The Holidays seem to be the only times that I really Bake… And I get to make all the yummy deserts and cookies.  I made my first batch of Holiday Deserts this past week…Made myself a few pans of Banana Chocolate Chip Bars –  And even took some into my work for the guys there to try out.  It was a hit!  And the Are Simple to make.

 

Banana Chocolate Chip Bars
Recipe Type: Dessert
Cook time: 25 mins
Total time: 25 mins
Ingredients
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 2 tsp. Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cups shortening
  • 2/3 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cups brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup smashed bananas (about 2 full size bananas)
  • 6 oz package chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
  2. Cream shortening sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in vanilla, eggs and bananas and mix.
  4. Add flour mixture.
  5. Stir in chips
  6. Spread batter in a greased and floured 10 1/2 by 15 1/2 jelly roll pan.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes
