I know in many states school has already started. But here in Michigan, most of the schools don’t start until after Labor Day this year. It gives me an extra few days to spend with my lil guy, before I get to loose him to all of his friends. But he has expressed some concern about going back to school. This year he starts First Grade. Deep down, he wants to go to school because he likes to learn… But I don’t think he realizes yet that school means getting to see all his friends again. Hallmark is here to help with the transition of going back to school.
The Hallmark Back to school pack includes:
- A pack of Hallmark’s Kids Collection greeting cards, which feature kid-appropriate topics from managing difficult academic or social situations, to achieving a personal goal in the classroom or on the field.
- A few of Hallmark’s “any day” greeting cards for kids
- Lunchbox Notes, which offer 50 ways for you to add a little love to lunchtime.
- Bug’Em, a pint-sized plush that can hold cards and other tokens of encouragement and give an unexpected lift to any youngster’s day.
Last year, the first day of school was a struggle for me to get lil C to go. Aww heck, the first month or so was a struggle. When he started Kindergarten he was only 4 3/4years old. His birthday was in November, just before the cut off date. I remember telling him that it was going to be okay. And reminding him that Grammy or Uncle or Daddy was going to be there to pick him up. I even found pictures of my first day at Kindergarten – when I went to school to show him that it was okay and every one does it and enjoys it. It did take what seemed like forever to get him use to going. Finally by the last month of school, he was getting ready to go on his own and wanting to get to school on time. Oye! I am hoping that this year is going to start off a little better. Any suggestions on some words of encouragement for his first day of school? The Bug ‘Em is going to be perfect for his first day. I am trying to think of what little things to put inside of it. I am thinking of maybe getting a little pack of M&Ms (his favorite candy) and maybe a dollar or something – with a note attached saying congrats on your first day, slurpee is one me….I do love the idea of the lunch notes. Some of the ones that are pre-made are great for older kids….So I may just take some ideas from those and when I need a new one – change some of the wording where a 6 year old can understand. Even a Simple I LOVE YOU can brighten up a child’s day.

Do your best! Stay on top of your work and don’t slide. Remember if you really do your best that is what is important!
Since I am homeschooling I try to always let me oldest know that he is doing good even when he messes up
I put lunch box notes in their lunch everyday that say things like “you’re doing great!”, “You are so smart it amazes me”, things like that.
Do your best is what we always tell our daughter whether it be school, sports and other hobbies and/or anything else she tries. If you do your best and it doesn’t work out at least you know you tried
