One thing that the Hubs and I decided was important to get for the new baby is a good baby monitor. When I had lil C, I had a monitor, but we really didn’t use it. Because of our living arrangement, he slept in a crib in our room and very rarely were we too far out of ear range. But now the way our house is laid out, Little Peanut will have his/her own room and it’s down the hall just a little. Motorola sent me the MBP36 Baby monitor for this review.
Some features of the MBP36 include:
- 2.4 ghz fhss wireless technology
- 3.5″ color lcd screen and up to 25 fps
- Infrared night vision and room temperature monitor
- Five polyphonic lullabies, remote camera adjustment, additional camera capability and five LED alerts for noise level
- Up to 200 meter range with “out-of-range” warning
When I had lil C, I had just the basic monitor. It reminded me a little like Walkie Talkies. The Motorola MBP36 has come a long way from that. Not only can you Hear the baby but you can also see the baby! We put this to the test by setting it up in our kitchen overlooking our front room, while we sat in the other end of the house and “spied” on the kids. Not only could we hear what they were doing… And we could See what they were doing… But we were able to talk to them through the monitor! Caught both the kids off guard when they first heard it.
I love the fact that the Motorola MBP36 has so many features. It can tilt up and down and also rotate almost 360 degrees. With this feature, you have the ability to place it anywhere in a room, and move the camera until you get the exact angle you want. It also has the Night Feature, so when you are trying to check on baby in the middle of the night, you will be able to see him or her fast asleep in their bed.
This particular style monitor is not only useful when your baby is a newborn, or even a couple years old. Even after baby grows out of it, if we are still in the same house, we will be using it as a camera to see who’s at the door. When we are in the living room, we cant hear people knocking, so we have a door chime sensor on our porch (the only downfall, little critters and drastic temperature changes set it off)
*I received this monitor in exchange for this review. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.
I would have loved one of these when my kids were babies. I can’t tell you how many hours of sleep I lost having to get up and check on them (for my own peace of mind, of course). This is a wonderful product I’ll def be sharing with my expecting friends!
LOVE that you can talk through it too! The voice of mama without having to go in is sometimes enough to calm baby. Awesome.
I am dying for a video monitor! I’ve actually had my eye on one similar to this for a while now. I especially love the tilt feature!
OMGosh I have been DYING for one of these!! We still don’t have Jack in the crib for bedtiime yet, just nap time… so I REALLY want one. It would make me feel so much better. So glad to see this review so I know what to go for when I decide to.
