I am sharing my love of the written word as a part of the Superb Writers’ Blogathon. Sponsored by Grammarly grammar checker, this series is bringing helpful hints to aspiring superb writers all across the world wide web.
Writing has seem to become a lost art. I remember when I was in school, we had to learn Grammer and We had to learn how to properly write. This technique has long since past. I know that now a days, kids are not even leaning how to write in cursive. It is crazy how things have changed over the past 20 or more years. In school, I struggled with literature and English classes. Especially when it came to writing out school papers or essays. I was constantly marked down for my improper use of grammar- that and the fact that I wrote small. I felt that my teachers were picking on me personally. That was until I had others Proof Read what I wrote.
I have learned that when you write a letter, you tend to write how you would talk. Now a days, many of us are using more slang terms and phrases – which COMPLETELY Go against every rule of grammar. And it doesn’t only seem to happen when we are talking to each other…. I have noticed that Clothing companies are putting Slang and Improper grammar on their Graphic Tees. I saw one at work that talked about how their “Game is Sick” and how the other teams game “it aint good” Aint? My coworker and I complained how they are teaching our youth that it is okay to not use the proper phrases and grammar.

3. If you are able to, ask a parent, a friend, a teacher or an acquaintance to read through what you have written – just to make sure you don’t have any OBVIOUS mistakes.
