Welcome to the Back to School Blast!

Getting your family prepared to head back to school, can be difficult especially after a long, fun-filled summer. Here are a few of our favorite Back to School Tips to help you along the way.

1. Back-to-School Supplies Checklist – Backpack? Check. Pencils? Check. Safety scissors? Not Yet. Use the same checklist each time you head out to grab supplies, to keep track of what you have already purchased and the things you still need to. These are also handy if you have more than one child. Simply print 2, 3, 4 list and add their name to the top.

Some other tips that I have found helpful:
1. Plan on your back to school shopping early.  I have noticed that a lot of stores are starting their back to school as soon as the beginning of July (at least here in Michigan, our schools dont start until the end of August/beginning of September)
2.  Most schools have a list of supplies they want for their classes.  If it says 1 pack of pencils, grab an extra pack or two…. Some how, they always manage to disappear (This goes the same for glue sticks and pencil sharpeners)
3.  Start preparing your child for his/her back to school bed time at least a week or so before school starts.  Most kids are use to the summer hours and being able to sleep in… But school requires them to get up good and early.
4.  The first day is always the hardest for those in kindergarten and first grade.  Lil C cried his head off going into school every day for the 1st week.  The one teacher suggested… the parent has to be strong and say “I love you and I’ll see you after school, Have a fun day” and just let the teachers do their job… they are use to kids fighting the first day!

The Back to School Blast was organized by Mom Powered Media.

Start your shopping early–throughout the summer if possible. That way the last couple of weeks are not lost in a scramble to prepare.

My best tip is to make a pinterest board or list of ideas for school lunches. Having a go-to list makes lunch prep way easier!
