Lil C Loves to read  – and I love to hear him read.  Even though he doesn’t always get every word right, he tries…. Both his dad and I make sure that books are available to him at all times.  His daddy gets him books that sound fun and just tell a story.  I try to get him books that have a meaning or theme behind the story.  Something he can take away from the book.  That’s why I was ecstatic to work with the creators of Hugo the Happy Starfish.hugo happiness

A little about This story:  Hugo is a little starfish. He finds his life dull. Tired of feeling sad, one day he sets off to find happiness. After much searching, he discovers something that makes his heart do a somersault! Sharing with others is the only thing that makes him truly happy; all other things just made him feel better for a little while.  Adults strive to teach children to share within their communities. ”

As I mentioned before, I try really hard to give Lil C books that have an underlying message.  Hugo the Happy Starfish – has Just that.  The message is – Sharing.  And you know how little Kids just LOVE to share… Everything is “mine.. mine… mine”    And with us combining families in a couple months, both kids need to learn a little lesson in Sharing.  What better way to teach than through a story?   When I was growing up, we always heard stories… Stories about the way our relatives grew up… Stories about things that happen in the world around us…. and even though we are being “Taught” something…It never seemed like that.  But we did take away the morals that we learned from the stories.    Lil C was so excited to have received this book.  He opened it and read it right away. Needless to say, thinking that he read through it really quickly – I did ask him to do a little story Retelling (something that he needs to work on according to his teachers)… I was so proud of him, that he found the meaning of the story right away.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
* I received this book in exchange for this review.  All opinions expressed are 100% my own.
