Shopping online can really save you a lot of money. You’d be amazed at what you can buy online these days. Anything from clothes to groceries to medicine; all at the tip of your fingers. While we’re not advocating becoming a hermit and never leaving the house, we do aim to make life a bit more convenient when possible. You may not always have the time to get up and go get that toilet paper, or baby diapers. In addition to making life a bit easier, shopping online can make life a bit cheaper too. Here are some tips to save money with shopping online.

Check Out Store Websites
A lot of stores will offer discounts and deals on products online that aren’t offered in stores. Stores like WalMart offer so many variety of goods online from groceries to furniture. It’s always worth checking the site before you leave the house to see if you can get what you need at a cheaper price. Some things are also only sold online, and not in the stores. It could definitely save a lot of gas money buying online rather than checking store after store for that one special items.

Free Shipping
A store like WalMart has such a huge inventory, and many of those items qualify for free shipping. Even the items that don’t automatically qualify for free shipping, you can often find a free shipping coupon from WalMart. The coupon usually requires a code that can be used multiple times, and can be found at a site like savings.com.

Ship to Store
Another option is to have your items shipped directly to the store. This is usually a free option for many department stores. Many goods offered online are not carried in the stores, or maybe sold online and are out of stock at the store site. Simply order your goods, check to see if they qualify for ship to store site and wait for an email letting you know that your order is ready for pick up.

Calculate Before You Go
If you’re not sure whether saving the money on shipping could really make up for the gas money you would spend driving around, calculate your shipping. Most shopping sites will let you enter your zip code, and they will calculate shipping costs for you online. Any online coupons you use can easily make up for any money you end up spending on shipping costs. Sign up for enewsletters from specific store or couponing sites that will inform you about daily deals, weekly specials and when things go on clearance. You could really end up saving yourself quite a bundle.

*Thank you for these great tips.

Great tips! I love the convenience of shopping from home, especially during a spell of horrible weather in the winter.

I am always hesitant to buy clothing online. I need to be able to try it on. I do love not having to leave the house sometimes though. Days like today with the snow storm I would rather stay put!

I usually never think to buy ‘regular’ products online, I have to start-the savings sound great. I also like the in store pick up, I forgot about that too. Great tips and reminders-TY 🙂

I honestly buy so much online! However, finally retailers like Best Buy and Target are starting to price match online retailers like Amazon! This is great if you need something fast.
