Ridiculously Easy Reindeer Cookies

It’s holiday cookie time! I love baking cookies and making memories with my daughters. We have so much fun laughing and talking. It’s one of the things we look forward to the most about the holiday season. I had originally planned on baking cookies with the kiddo and decorating this weekend. However, we both got flu shots last week and neither one of us felt up to a big process. Instead, we made up some fun Reindeer cookies for daddy when he got home!

They were ridiculously easy to make. I saw this idea at a bake sale a few years back and adapted it a little to suit our needs.

Ingredients:

Nutter Butter cookies

Mini Twist Pretzels

A bag of candy eyes or a small coated chocolate candy

Candy pearls (optional – any small candy would do!)

White Frosting

Piping bag (optional)

Directions:

1. Put a larger spot of frosting on the top of a cookie – attach a pretzel for antlers. Some people like to split the pretzel and make more “authentic” antlers…I have a 6 year old and don’t care to have pretzel crumbs all over the house, so we keep them intact.
2. Add a medium-sized spot of frosting to the middle of the cookie – attach candy eyeballs or small chocolate coated candies.
3. Add a tiny spot of frosting to the bottom of the cookie – attach a candy pearl for a nose.
4. Enjoy!

Note: You could really make these pretty if you put the frosting in the bag and piped it on to the cookies. We prefer to slather. If you pipe it on there is no spatula to lick!

That’s all there is to it! I think they came out great. We’ve actually made them a few times, with different variations. This year we had candy eyes, but forgot the candy noses! A dot of frosting worked just fine.

Reindeer cookies have become sort of a family tradition, and you can see the difference in the “quality” of them from year to year as the little one gets better at it. Either way, we’re making memories, and no matter how they look, they always turn out tasty! Last year when we made them, even our Elf on the Shelf, Marty, loved them!
