“Schools Out for Summer!!!” Woot woot! Lil C was happy because he thought that means that he could play on his tablet more – or get to watch more cartoons through the day. WRONGO Buddy! Did you know that International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA) and the Voice of Play wanted to promote activities and ideas that get kids – and parents – outside. So what a better way than to celebrate the First Day of Summer than to go outside and play! If you’ve never heard of The Voice of Play, they are an education and advocacy initiative of the non-profit membership association, IPEMA, formed to educate and promote the benefits of children’s free outdoor play and playgrounds. Through the Voice of Play website and social media properties, IPEMA highlights the scientifically proven physical, social, emotional and cognitive benefits of play.

Lil C Loves to go to the local play ground! They have jungle gyms and swings, and grass… and he gets to run and run and run … until he’s tired! I love the playground for that reason too! Bedtime ends up being so much easier because of the fresh air! And what little does he know, he’s getting some of that forbidden E word … Ya know, EXERCISE!

Because of places like the park, Lil C has made many friends! This is one of his good friends. We would try to get to the park once every couple weeks at the same time, so the boys could play. If you can tell, both boys have red cheeks from running around the play ground. The photo above was just after a water break! With all that running around in the summer, you need to make sure that you keep hydrated with cold water!

One of the other local parks is along the water! They have just a small play area, but they do have a shore line to fish from. Lil C got to go fishing with his uncle. What a great bonding experience for the two of them!
What are your favorite summer activities?
