Recently we took a Mini Vacation – just to get away from it all.  Well, having a small 4 door car, all 5 of us and our luggage would not fit.  Thats when I found out that I would be able to test drive the Kia Sorento for a week!  What perfect timing! Kia_13The 7 Passenger Kia Sorento has an overall Safety Score of 5 out of 5 stars!   This is one thing that Settles my mind.  Since having children, I have paid more attention to the crash rating of cars   Even though I believe I am an excellent driver, it doesn’t mean that there will never be any accidents.  With the Sorento I know that my children will be safe – as long as they are properly restrained in their seats.

(for some reason, the camera picked up yellow in the lights, they are actually red).

My uncle actually pointed this out to us.  He was driving behind us from his house to ours, and he was amazed at how Bright and clear the Brake Lights were!  I have been in accidents before as a passenger, where the driver rear-ended the person ahead of them – because they were not able to see the brake lights brightly during the day.  Ever since then, I have made sure to stay away from buying bright red cars and cars with brake lights that seem too dim. Kia_15
Have you ever taken a long trip with kids?  They have their tablets and their cell phones and their computers and… Well, you get the point.  Not only did the Kia Sorento have at least 3 power outlets (the ones made for car chargers) but it also had an AC 115W outlet. This Saved TONS of headaches when it came to charging up lil Miss’ tablet!  This is also a great feature, if you go camping, and have an air mattress that has a regular wall plug pump… Kia Sorento to the Rescue! (I’ve been there before, thankfully other campers had a battery operated pump)Kia_3You can see that Peanut and Lil Miss were in the middle row – and if you look hard enough, you can even see Lil C in the back row.  We had the 2nd half of the back row seats down to fit Peanuts Playpen, and all of our luggage.   With the Car seat and Lil Miss being an adult size, we weren’t able to fit all 3 kids across the back seat. (This would probably be a different story if it wasn’t for the car seat). Personally, I believe that the Kia Sorento needs to be about a foot longer – that would give the 3rd row and “trunk” space a little more room. Kia_1

What did the kids have to say about the Kia Sorento?

“There were a couple things that I did like about this:
1) The sunroof  went to the back of the car
2) That it has a normal outlet for your electronics (see photo)” – Lil Miss, age 13

“The seats were very comfy.  You could sleep for hours in it” – Lil C age 7

Disclaimer:  I got to test drive this car for a week.  All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

This is a very nice car to own and take on vacation. It looks so roomy and that is awesome that they have electrical outlets to operate games and movies with. I like the color and it is nice to know that the brake lights are very bright to see.
