Even though I’m not a first time mom, this pregnancy has had me all nervous.  And I know that I had nothing to be nervous about. Part of me thinks that it is because I was so excited to find out that I was pregnant, that I just thought that it couldn’t be true – or that something was just not going to go right.  So it was driving me insane only having 1 doctors visit every 4 weeks.  It feel like an eternity from one appointment to another.  That’s when Fairhaven Health came to my rescue.  They sent me the AngelSounds Fetal Doppler to try out at home.Img_7471

A little about the AngelSounds Fetal Doppler: The AngelSounds Fetal Doppler is the most popular Fetal Doppler device on the market today. Easy to use, the AngelSounds Fetal Doppler includes everything you need to begin listening to your baby’s heartbeat right away, including headphones to ensure optimal audio quality. With AngelSounds, you’ll even be able to record your baby’s heartbeats as either an MP3 or WAV file – perfect for sending to others. The AngelSounds Fetal Doppler can be used with or without transducer gel.

When I first received this Doppler, I was just 10 weeks.  At that point in time, you have a slight chance of hearing the baby’s heartbeat.  But it is EXTREMELY hard to find.  They recommend waiting between the 14th and 16th week to really be able to hear.  The first time I heard peanuts heartbeat on my own, I felt so relieved.  For two reasons… 1) I knew peanut was doing good and 2) well, I knew that I was using the Doppler right!  To make it easier to hear, they recommend that you use Transducer gel.  You can also use water, but I found that harder to do.  I personally use just a little bit of KY jelly.   Where do I usually find peanut?  Well, I put a little drop of KY directly underneath my belly button, and MOST of the time I’ll find Peanut’s heartbeat right about there.  If I don’t hear Peanut right away, I shift the Doppler a little to the left and a little to the right.   Now at 22 weeks, I am able to find Peanut’s heartbeat a lot easier. Some of the features of the AngelSounds Fetal Doppler are:

  • Listen to your baby’s heartbeat starting at about the 14th to 16th week of your pregnancy
  • Record your baby’s heartbeat (recording cable is included) as either an MP3 or WAV file – perfect for emailing to friends, grandparents-to-be, etc.
  • Record the sounds of your own heartbeat to play back to your newborn baby in his/her crib

I have yet to try to record my own heartbeat to play back to peanut when he/she is here.  I have recorded peanut’s heartbeat, but I didn’t use the recording cable.  I recorded it on my phone as a video, so i could send it to the hubby via our cell phones.

Having a Doppler to use up until you feel regular movement (and can do kick counts) can be so very reassuring!

I would have loved to have one of these when I was pregnant. It seems like it would be so reassuring especially with high risk pregnancies.

Defiantly reassuring. I just don’t recommend using it until 15-16 weeks if you’re high risk. There’s been times where peanut has hidden just right and I couldn’t find his/her heartbeat.

Yeah it is very cool that we can do this at home. Waiting a month just to hear the heart beat for a minute or two seems crazy now. 😀

It has been a huge piece of mind… and it also helps on those really stressful days of life – being able to just go lay down and listen to the heartbeat of your lil one.

I still look forward to the checkups at the office – The doppler he has there is set up to a nice speaker… so it’s much louder! lol.

We rented a Doppler with each of our 3 pregnancies. What a great idea so people can actually enjoy it whenever they want, need or just cause….need to hear their little one inside.

I wanted one of these so badly when I was pregnant. They had trouble hearing my son’s heartbeat at many appointments because I had a thick placenta. (I think there was a technical term, but my pregnancy brain forgot it. LOL) It would have been nice to have one of these to listen more often.

The AngelSounds Fetal Doppler would be nice to own. I especially like the record feature. Being able for your newborn to hear your heartbeat would be something that would calm him and give him peace. What a blessing.

it’s always good to have a Doppler throughout the pregnancy to make sure everything is ok with the baby and it is so precious to hear your little one’s heart beat whenever you want.

Just recently I was thinking how great it would be to have a fetal doppler monitor. I currently have a 2-year-old and have had two miscarriages. My son and I have had a great time “listening to the baby” with a stethoscope, but this would add an additional fun factor to bringing another person into this world.
