When I worked in retail, one of my co-workers was starting to really get into marathons and different running events. He would tell me about the different races that he signed up for, and would encourage me to at least TRY one some day. Mind you, I’m no athlete… but There have been a few in Michigan that have caught my eye. I heard a lot about Run or Dye last year, and it sounded like such a blast…
So what is Run or Dye? It is the worlds most colorful 5K. This year it is coming to Hazel Park Harness Raceway on Saturday May 10,2014. Through out this event, you get showered in Safe, eco-friendly, plant-based cornstarch dye every kilometer. After the event, you get to enjoy the world-famous Dye Festival. This is where you can “Tie-Dye the Sky” in a celebration of life, friendship, fitness, and fun.

These sorts of 5Ks are the perfect way to “test the waters” of racing before really diving in, or just to do for fun. They are so low key. There is really no pressure to finish in a certain time and many people just walk the course to be able to really enjoy the whole process. A ton of fun!
